Shining a Light on Our Grounds Maintenance Team

We’re proud to spotlight our in-house Grounds Maintenance Team, whose dedication has kept Chipping Norton’s open spaces looking clean, safe, and welcoming.
From the cemetery & closed church-yard, to our playparks and the Millennium Gardens, their work ensures these cherished areas remain places the whole community can enjoy.
Their efforts have not gone unnoticed. One local resident recently shared:
“I’d like to compliment the man, don’t know his name, who currently mows and strims the grass in the Worcester Road Cemetery. As a frequent visitor to the cemetery—my late wife, various family members and friends are buried there—it’s years since I have seen the cemetery looking so tidy and smart. Well done, that man.”

Have your say!

Did you know that we operate a friendly face-to-face service at the Guildhall from 9am-1pm on weekdays?
We are looking to improve our services to allow more people to access help – this may mean extending our opening hours or moving to a more recognisable location such as the Town Hall.

VJ Day 80th Anniversary – 15th August 2025
Chipping Norton Town Council held a Candlelight Vigil on 15th August 2025 to commemorate the end of the war on Victory in Japan Day.
100 Candles of remembrance were displayed across the Town Hall steps, and the fallen from Chipping Norton were remembered with a candle of their own, for people to view, and pay their respects. Thank you to the community who came to pay their respects, joining the Royal British Legion following their own service at the Chipping Norton War Memorial, to hear speeches and poetry readings from Mayor Sandra Coleman and Councillor Mike Cahill. The Kings speech from the day, glowed on the Town Hall wall, and hearing his words resonating through Topside was moving and emotional for all who attended.

It was wonderful to share a heartfelt moment, as we held candles and reflected together, gathered in thoughts of peace and hope.
