Town Council Precept 2026–27
At its full council meeting on 8th December 2025, councillors agreed to authorise the Town Clerk to serve a precept on West Oxfordshire District Council, in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended).
The precept requires the District Council to pay the Town Council the sum of £515,250 in respect of Council Tax for the town for the financial year 2026–27.
Impact on Council Tax
Based on a Band D property, this represents a 3.52% increase.
Background
The increase does not fully cover the Town Council’s projected costs for 2026–27. However, councillors sought to keep the rise to the minimum necessary while continuing to support local services and facilities.
Budget review
The Town Council will be undertaking a detailed review of its costs in the coming weeks and months. This will include exploring opportunities to reduce expenditure and identify additional sources of income to balance the 2026–27 budget.
