Welcome to the July 2026 edition of the Town Council’s newsletter!
Flag Flying at the Millennium Gardens

This month we flew the Refugee Nation Flag to mark World Refugee Day (20th June). We were joined by members of Chipping Norton Amnesty Group and the Charlbury Refugee Action Group, who shared thoughtful reflections alongside the Mayor, Sandra Coleman.
World Refugee Day honours the strength and courage of refugees and encourages public awareness and support.

We also flew the Armed Forces Armed Forces Flag with members of the Royal British Legion to celebrate Reserves Day and Armed Forces Day.
Reserves Day is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the extraordinary contribution made by Royal Navy and Royal Marines Reservists. Balancing military commitments alongside civilian careers, family life and personal responsibilities requires exceptional dedication, professionalism and resilience.
Armed Forces Day is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving personnel to Service families, veterans and cadets.

The Big Summer Clean-Up was a Big Success!
☀️ A great bunch of both loyal volunteers and keen first-timers gathered on the Town Hall steps on a sunny Saturday morning for our latest litter-pick. Participants cleared streets all around the town which came at a perfect time as the Town Festival was happening the next day.

Each Keep Chippy Beautiful event brings such a positive atmosphere and community spirit to the town and we can’t wait to do more.
We also have our Summer Spruce-Up event coming up on Tuesday 7th July! You can find details here: Summer Spruce-Ups – Chipping Norton Town Council

Celebrating Councillor Jo Graves
Cllr Jo Graves was shortlisted for OALC’s Long Service Award. She attended the Talking Tables and AGM event on the 25th June. Though she did not receive the award in the end, we are immensely grateful for her service and her being shortlisted is a testament to her dedication and passion over the years. Jo began her time on the Town Council in 1995 and was awarded the British Empire Medal in 2015 for her services to the community.
Thank you Jo!
