Flag Flying at the Millennium Gardens
We started the month by flying the NHS flag on Monday, 6th July. Cllr Sandra Coleman, Town Mayor, and Cllr Steve Akers, Deputy Mayor, were joined by two representatives from Chipping Norton Health Centre – Dr Charlotte Hanan and Chief Operations Manager Emily MacDonogh.
Thank you to all health and social workers for their hard work 
On Friday, 24th July, we flew the Pride flag alongside members of the Pride Committee. The flag celebrates the diversity of the LGBT community and calls for a more inclusive society. This preceded this year’s Chippy Pride event on 25th July which was, once again, a huge success!
Picnic in the Park
We are very excited to be offering local residents a FREE community event this Summer.
Picnic in the Park will take place on Saturday, 22nd August from midday – 8pm. Join us in New Street Play Area for a day of fun activities and games, delicious food and drink, brilliant entertainment and more…
☀️ Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the fun!
Councillor Vacancy
There is a vacancy for one candidate to be co-opted at the Full Council meeting on the 7th Sept.
Deadline for applications is 1st September 2026.

Heritage Open Day 2026
We are excited to be holding our first ever Heritage Open Day this September.
Join us on Saturday 12th September throughout the town centre to celebrate the town’s heritage.

Community Awards 2026
Nominations for the Chipping Norton Community Awards 2026 are still open!
Do you know a local person who goes above and beyond for their community? Nominations for the Chipping Norton Community Awards are still open!
The Chipping Norton Community Awards 2026 will be held on 26th September 2026. The initiative aims to recognise and celebrate the individuals and organisations which make our town special.
The Community Awards will feature the following categories to recognise diverse forms of community contribution:
Mayor’s Civic Award: Recognises an individual’s outstanding service and contributions to the community
Young Person of the Year: Honours a young individual under the age of 21 for exceptional achievements or contributions to society.
The Beacham Award for Sporting Achievement: Celebrates significant accomplishments and excellence in sports.
Organisation/Group of the Year: Acknowledges an organisation or group’s remarkable impact and dedication to community service.

Summer Spruce-Up
🫧 On Tuesday, 7th July, a team of staff, councillors and volunteers came together to help refresh the town centre.
We are particularly thankful to our wonderful volunteers Celia, Alan and Rachel who kindly donated their time and efforts to keeping Chippy beautiful.
We will be doing more Spruce-Ups in the coming months so keep your eyes peeled 
Good News – New Speed Indicator Device on Burford Road
A new Speed Indicator Device has been installed on Burford Road. This was installed based on feedback to the Town Council about speeding on this road, and has been installed by Oxfordshire County Council at no cost to the Town Council. Hopefully
What’s on in the Town Venues
You can see What’s On using the Online Calendars for Glyme Hall and Town Hall below – catch up on what’s happening and the groups you could be joining in and having fun with . Check them out below:
Check out the activities from kid’s dance sessions and exercise for our more mature friends to support groups and more, all happening in Glyme Hall.
Choirs, singing groups, fairs, events, religious groups and so much more – it’s all happening in Town hall – as well as your Banking Hub for Town with Barclays and T.S.B. – take a look to see what you could be joining in with or getting support from.

FixMyStreet: Spot It, Report It, Fix It
FixMyStreet.com is a free website that helps you report street problems—like potholes, broken lights, or dog fouling—straight to your local council. No need to know who’s responsible: just drop a pin on the map, describe the issue, and FixMyStreet sends your report to the right place.
Launched in 2007 by UK charity mySociety, it covers the whole country. You can even upload a photo and track what’s been fixed in your area.
