Oxfordshire Tobacco Control Strategy 2026 – 2030 Consultation

Oxfordshire County Council would like your feedback on the draft Oxfordshire tobacco control strategy 2026 – 2030.

Smoking is one of the main causes of serious illness and early death, both across the country and here in Oxfordshire.

Oxfordshire County Council are updating their Oxfordshire Tobacco Control Strategy for 2026–2030. This new version builds on their previous work and sets out what they plan to do next.

They would like to encourage all people living and working in Oxfordshire to take a few moments to complete the Public Consultation survey on Let’s Talk Oxfordshire website. It should take 10-15 minutes to complete and closes on 10th August 2025.

Our Community Venues

Chipping Norton Pride 2025 – From Chippy With Love

Chipping Norton Pride returned on Saturday 26 July 2025, organised by the dedicated volunteers at Chipping Norton Pride, and supported by Chipping Norton Town Council through event guidance, oversight, and first‑aid provision (fortunately not required on the day – the event took place with excellent safety measures in place!).

This year’s Pride kicked off at 11:30 am with live performances and DJs, a Pride Market showcasing local artisans alongside food and drink stalls. It drew the community together in a spirit of celebration under this year’s theme: “From Chippy with Love”.

Family-friendly and vibrant, the festival closed at 4:30 pm, while the after‑party at the Town Hall from 7 pm until late added an extra splash of colour and fun into the evening.

The Town Council is proud to have played a supporting role, ensuring a safe, well‑run event that celebrated inclusion, diversity, and community spirit in Chippy.

🕯 VJ Day 80th Anniversary Candlelight Vigil – Thursday 15th August 2025

Join us at sunset on Friday 15th August on the steps of Chipping Norton Town Hall for a moving candlelight vigil to mark 80 years since Victory over Japan Day.

The vigil will begin as dusk falls, with 100 candle jars lighting the steps. Community members are invited to take a candle and stand in its place as we reflect together on the end of WWII and the lives affected.

The short ceremony will include:

  • A speech from the Mayor of Chipping Norton
  • Two poetry readings — one from 1945, and one reflecting on modern-day conflicts
  • A moment of shared silence

This simple, heartfelt tribute will last around 20 minutes, and all are welcome to attend.

Let us gather in peace and gratitude as we remember — and hope.
